Yesterday at the Wine Golf Course - Franciacorta

AKA The Wine Golf Course, Franciacorta Golf Club was the setting for the 5^th qualifier in this year's ICV Golf Challenge sponsored by our partner in Italy, Il Cammino Viaggi.

 

The curious name is thanks to the location of the club, within the prestigious wine producing area of Franciacorta near Lake Garda and Lake Iseo. Each of the 18 holes is in fact sponsored by one of the local vineyards and frequent wine-themed events are held.

 

After a fantastically sunny morning, play had to be suspended mid-afternoon due to an unseasonal thunderstorm which showed no sign of easing off. As all players had completed the first 9 holes results and winners were decided on the basis of those.

 

Luckily the day had some more welcome surprises in store than the rain! We were in fact pleased to be able to give one lucky golfer, Teresa Di Stasi, whose scorecard was picked out at the prize-giving, an exclusive voucher for a free weekend for 2 at the splendid Fattoria Medicea in Monsummano Terme, Tuscany.
