Verona Golf Club
Loc. Ca del Sale 37066 Sommacampagna Verona
The 18 holes course spread out among vineyards which frame the Custoza hills in the west of Verona, and located in an immaculate, picturesque landscape, the Verona Golf Club offers an itinerary for the elite following the traditional golfing tourism of north Europe. The property company was founded in 1960 by two enlightened gentlemen such as Alberto Farina and Harold Gent who were joined in the following year by a limited number of other members and in particular Gianfranco Fedrigoni, Giacomo Galtarossa, Patrizio Tiberghien and Italo Cannella. In 1963 a new 9-hole course, skilfully mapped out by John Harris, was opened and, in the following decade, new 9 holes had already been added, as a result of the increased interest the initiative attracted. At the first nine holes, which are enveloped in copious vegetation and made challenging by a green which is well supported by mounds and bunkers, there follows a conclusive sequence that is characterised by ample and ondulating fairways which are nevertheless technically harmonius with the initial part of the course. Thanks to its historical background, its beautiful course, its comfortable clubhouse and, last but not least, the helpfulness and efficiency of its staff as a whole, the Golf Club Verona can easily be considered as one of the most prestigious ones in Europe.
