L'Ugolino is a natural course designed by English architects Blandford and Gannon and built in 1934 - later restyled by Piero Mancinelli. Set in the Chianti hills it benefits from the natural characteristics of the gorgeous Tuscan landscape with cypresses and olive trees, as well as sloping hillsides that blend in with the magnificent scenery. Small, often very well-defended greens are among the obstacles that face the golfer on a course which is part and parcel of Italian golfing history. Challenging yet satisfying, the course calls for accurate rather than powerful play.
